CoExistence Technologies Summary: Saving Trees with Phytophthora Disease

Dr. Jim Conroy's CoExistence Technologies

Organisms that are Usually at Odds With Each Other Can CoExist

CoExistence Technologies include multiple systems created by Dr. Jim Conroy, PhD, Plant Pathology and TheTreeWhisperer®

Just because a tree is green, doesn’t mean it’s healthy on the inside.

Whenever trees and plants are stressed or their parts, systems, and functions are internally compromised, Dr. Jim Conroy’s innovative healing method called Collaborative Ecological Healing® is done collaboratively with the consciousness of trees and plants. That human/plant collaboration will revitalize and balance the tree or plant's inner health as well as restore interconnectivity between trees and plants in their communities.  So it also benefits ecosystems, crops, forests, gardens, and large tracts of land.

Tree Whispering® and Green Centrics® were the first interactive methodologies developed and taught, beginning in the early 2000's. Those systems  improve tree and plant inner functionality, from the inside-out and coming from the tree's or plant's point of view. Using those 'mindful methods' is like looking out through a tree's "eyes" or standing in its roots.

Inner healing occurs when a plant's or tree's inner parts, systems, and the aggregate of inner processes are bioenergetically transformed and imprinted with new and healthy patterns of operation.  It's like plugging in a lamp:  you don't see the electricity flowing but the light comes on!

EcoPeace Treaties® development started in 2006. EcoPeace Treaties are collaborative agreements for coexistence between organisms. It's like negotiating a contract at a round table with multiple parties so that EVERYBODY WINS!

Read about the genesis of EcoPeace Treaties in our book Live and Let Live: How Multidimensional Collaboration Heals Ecosystems.

The Thinking Behind EcoPeace Treaties

The philosophy behind EcoPeace Treaties is one of coexistence, balance, harmony, peace, and respect for all life.  When the mindset of CoExistence or Partnership is in place, all organisms can operate in the kind of natural balance that human ancestors lived in. That condition was not perfect equilibrium but rather a flow of natural corrections.

The "control" paradigm has wrecked havoc in both local and global environments. The mindset or paradigm-of-thinking behind conventional tree and plant care approaches is based the a philosophy of human domination over Nature in a way that has thrown most ecosystems out of balance and is unsustainable on Earth.

An EcoPeace Treaty is, at its name sounds, a Live-and-Let-Live approach to coexistence with other organisms. It is not a conventional approach that seeks to control or dominate an organism in favor of another organism. This approach cannot be judged in the same way that conventional "chemical" approaches are judged because an EcoPeace Treaty does not seek to "control" the unwanted organism. Rather, an EcoPeace Treaty seeks collaboration and balance in the whole environment.

Phytophthora or "Bleeding Canker"...

It's a fungal organism that normally lives in soil everywhere. When a tree becomes sickly or weak, the organism often moves up onto the bark. Typically, the organism blocks the flow of fluids. A tree that remains stressed goes into a downward spiral in which the Phytophthora can kill the tree.

Trees can show signs of "bleeding canker" when they are stresses or sick. Organisms such as Phytophthora, that usually live in the soil, find their way up onto the bark to live a different stage of their lives. However they can live full-time in the soil and NOT harm the tree.

Conventional approaches use chemicals to kill the organism but do not recognize that those same chemicals add further stress to the inner functionality of the tree. Application of fertilizer may also further stress the tree because of blocked circulation system.

A healthy tree will not attract the organism up onto its bark.

Dr. Jim Conroy's energy-medicine methods and his approach using a combination of CoExistence Technologies are interactions of consciousness that can help both organisms co-exist!

In an EcoPeace Treaty®, the Phytophthora organism usually can move into the soil where it can easily live on root exudates. The organism's consciousness will usually agree NOT to hurt the roots.

As a part of recovering its health, the tree's consciousness agrees to send more exudates (liquids) out of its roots into the soil zone around the roots so that the organism can feed on that.

The responsible people on the property agreed NOT to use chemicals, to respect the organism, and to love the tree.

The three organisms (tree, Phytophthora, and humans) can successfully co-exist this way.

1. Fair Haven, NJ, Copper Beech with Bleeding Canker

This magnificent Copper Beech tree is 5 stories tall.  In Spring its leaves are normally bright red. Other trees show green around it.

After a very wet autumn, the tree suddenly showed a bleeding canker, evidence of Phytophthora disease.  Dr. Conroy's hands-on, bioenergy healing treatments rejuvenated the tree's inner health.  With better functionality inside of the tree, the disease naturally began coming into dynamic balance with the tree.

By the next spring, the spot was naturally clearing.  By summer, the spot was hard to see.  In following seasons the spot was entirely faded.

The tree also had other spots that cleared over time. Remember, trees are on "tree time" not human "hurry-up" time.

2. The Tarrytown Beech, overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown New York

See the daffodils? This is early Spring and the Beech tree is just leafing out.

Dr. Jim Conroy started an EcoPeace Treaty on this glorious 5-story tall Beech tree in 2014. Phytophthora organisms--called "bleeding canker" were already hurting the tree. Over the next few years, the red 'bleeding' appearance dissipated. All that is left is some grey discoloration of the bark.

3. The Oak on the Driveway in Harding, New Jersey

Jim was working with this wonderful Oak tree for 4 years. In July and August of 2020, the area went through a short but severe drought. Right when the tree needed water to keep up its circulation system, there was no water. The drought added to the tree's stress.

Suddenly, one day, Dr. JIm saw a Phytophthora spot on its trunk. Then, within a few weeks, a couple more spots showed up.

The organism can live in the soil. When a tree is stressed, it moves up onto the bark. The dark spots that look like bleeding are why this disease is called "Bleeding Canker."

This photo shows the August 29th, 2020, spots.

By November 16, 2020, after regular CoExistence Technologies and EcoPeace Treaty treatments, the spots were fading.

Fading spots means that the tree is healthier and organisms are going back down to the soil.

November 16, 2020, spots are fading.

4. West Vincent, PA, Oak Tree Recovers, Spots Clear

A Client in Pennsylvania called in distress when the Oak at the top of her hill showed a Phytophthora spot.

In 2025, the area is left with only a shadow. The tree is healthy.

5. Red Hook, NY, Birch Tree Regains Health

By 2011, we named the agreements in consciousness "EcoPeace Treaties." Dr. Conroy worked with this wonderful old Birch tree in upstate New York to develop the three-way agreement process. The homeowner supported this work at every step.

The organisms only live on the trunk of a tree when the tree is weak. By improving the inner functionality of this Birch tree with bioenergy and consciousness, the organism receded to live as normal in the soil.

6. California Coastal Live Oak Tree called "Delilah" in Bay Area Recovers its health and Phytophthora spots recede.

Trees are on "tree-time." In other words, it can take some years for a tree to respond to the various CoExistence Technologies treatments in order to regain its internal health. Since this tree is all the way across the country from our headquarters, the property owner took photos that showed wonderful new leafing-out on the tree she calls "Delilah."

The tree survived years of California drought and the neighbor's poor landscaping choice. The tree is on the property line; the neighbor chose to add 6-8 inches of fill over this tree's roots in order to do plantings of his own.  This nearly cost Live Oak Tree "Delilah" her life. Because of bad neighborly relations, the soil could not be removed. But, the bioenergy work and the EcoPeace Treaty with the organism saved the tree.

By 2014, Dr. Jim Conroy was perfecting the EcoPeace Treaty process. While the tree uses the new information patterns to become more healthy, it develops a different relationship with the organism. Supported by the insights of Dr. Jim's consciousness, the 2 living beings work out ways that they can co-exist and even support each other.
